The half marathon of Marbella is approaching, a well established event in our city organized by the City Council that attracts thousands of runners of various kinds, coming from all parts of the country, even from abroad. Many runners are professionals at the highest level. Others are amateurs who participate to outdo themselves, or another important part: to participate for fun, as a family or in the company of friends enjoying the surroundings and the landscape of our city, unique for the celebration of this type of tests and the practice the running. The half marathon will be held on October 6 and will have an exceptional course, an urban circuit that will pass through the beautiful Old Town and the wide commercial avenues, so close to the sea that you can feel its breeze in your skin.
In Marbella, the activity of running is booming, not only because there are many people who see it as a fun way to do sports and abandon a sedentary lifestyle, but also because of our privileged climate with sun most of the year and the natural environment of Marbella. Swimming in the beautiful waters of the Mediterranean with departure and arrival in Puerto Banús, one of the the most beautiful leisure ports in the world, to continue with a bike race with a spectacular ascent to the Port of Ojén passing through picturesque landscapes of Sierra Blanca, and to finish with a half marathon on the spectacular Maritime Promenade of Marbella from where you can observe a dream landscape of dream, makes the infernal test maybe just a little easier!
For sports lovers in general and runners in particular, Marbella has it all. A beautiful promenade with almost 20 km connected with San Pedro, a magical mountain with dozens of trails to practice trail running, Nordic walking or hiking, and a unique microclimate with mild temperatures all year and few days of rain. Each training session, there is something new to notice: the state of the sea, the noise of the waves, the color of the water and the sky, the views from the mountain, from where we can see Gibraltar, even the Moroccan coast in the distance ...
A highly recommended route to enjoy running starts from the Aparthotel Puerto Azul! Tie your shoelaces and see if you reach the breakwater of Puente Romano (3km), between Marbella and Puerto Banús. If you are fitter you can continue to the bridge over the Rio Verde in Puerto Banus (almost 6km), and a hard session will take you to the end of the Puerto Banús breakwater! (at 7.5km) ... ¡¡¡Go for it and enjoy !!!
